EmberSol delivers full ECO4 whole-house retrofits under PAS 2035, from survey to TrustMark lodgement.
Get a QuoteEmberSol delivered a full ECO4 whole-house retrofit at 18 Bank Road, Wellington — a solid-wall semi-detached house built circa 1900–1929 in Telford, Shropshire. The property was in EPC band G (SAP 7) at referral, with no central heating system, severely degraded loft insulation, and uninsulated solid brick walls presenting significant heat loss.
The primary fabric measure was Internal Wall Insulation (IWI) using the SWIP system with Knauf mineral wool batts. As a pre-war solid brick construction, the property has no cavity and cannot receive Cavity Wall Insulation — making IWI the only compliant wall insulation route under ECO4. The SWIP system was installed across all external-facing walls, with the Intello intelligent vapour control layer providing adaptive moisture management to prevent interstitial condensation in the solid wall construction.
Loft insulation was upgraded to 300mm Knauf mineral wool, replacing the heavily degraded original insulation. The loft hatch was insulated and draught-proofed as part of the works. First Time Central Heating (FTCH) was installed — a Worcester Greenstar gas boiler with full radiator system and Secure Controls, replacing the existing electric heating system.
A Decentralised Mechanical Extract Ventilation (DMEV) system was installed to maintain healthy indoor air quality following the improvement in airtightness from the IWI and loft insulation measures. The combined works took the property from EPC G (SAP 7) to EPC C (SAP 75) — a 68-point SAP uplift. All works were completed under ECO4 with full PAS 2035 compliance, with C2 inspection by SWIP and C3 inspection by Tecnika.
